Fire Department
Car fire: A vehicle belonging to Lonnie Glover, Falls, was damaged at 6:48 p.m. Thursday when it ignited while at a residence at 3152 County Road 2 South. Firefighters were at the scene for one hour and the cause is under investigation.
Gas leak: Firefighters turned out as a precaution to a gas leak Thursday at the Wayne Kasich residence, 3488 Pine St., Ranier. Gas is suspected to have begun leaking from a cracked meter.
Chief’s report, Jan. 1 to Oct. 19: Fire calls — 15 in International Falls; eight in rural area.

Tampering with motor vehicles: Bryan H. Hultman, 1319 Ninth Ave., reported Friday that his unlocked vehicle parked at his residence was entered but nothing taken. Linda L. Kluever, 720 Seventh St., reported Friday that her vehicle was parked in an alley near her residence when the driver’s side window was broken out. A vehicle belonging to Stephen D. Riggs, 801 Seventh St., Friday was reportedly entered and a cigarette lighter, $2 cash and a can of silver spray paint taken.
Burglary: John W. Romosz reported Friday that an unlocked garage at 606 11th St. was entered and baby clothes valued at $200 and a bicycle valued at $350 taken.
Hit-and-run: Norman A. Seegert, 62, Falls, reported that his vehicle was damaged when it was struck by another vehicle at Super One, 1313 Third St.

Fire: A house owned by Marty and Randal Cody at 7983 Town Road 85, Big Falls, was destroyed Thursday when it caught fire. According to the report, siding on a nearby garage was damaged. Littlefork Fire Department responded with two tanker trucks.
Burglary: Clayton Kimball, 508 Spruce St., Littlefork, reported Wednesday that his unlocked garage was entered and several items taken. Among the items taken were a $150 Sony PlayStation 2, three DVDs valued at $20 each, and computer games.

Injury: Members of the Fort Frances Detachment and the Fort Frances Fire Department responded at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of an injury on Abitibi-Bowater property at Central Avenue and Third Street West. According to the report, a 15-year-old girl with serious injuries, including burns to her body, was found in a fenced-off area of the property near a power transformer. She was transported to Riverside Health Care Facilities by ambulance. The OPP, with assistance from the Ministry of Labor and Electrical Safety Authority, continues to investigate.
