Jordan Christianson’s hat trick powered International Falls past Richfield on Wednesday in the 17th annual Kiwanis Hockey Festival in Rochester.
The 4-2 victory gave the Broncos a third place finish on the heels of back-to-back championships in the Class A tournament.
It’s the 10th year International Falls has participated in the Kiwanis Hockey Festival.
Mick Dhein and Ryan Erickson scored for Richfield.
Christianson tallied two goals in the first period and another in the third. Brett Musich scored the other goal for the Broncos, who lost 3-2 to Rochester Lourdes the night before in the waning seconds of the semifinals.
Mason City (Iowa) defeated Lourdes in a shootout Wednesday to capture the title, while Albert Lea defeated Duluth Central in a shootout to win fifth place. Dodge County shutout La Crescent 4-0 in the seventh-place contest.
The Broncos (6-6) return to action Tuesday against Borderland rival Fort Frances. The teams faceoff at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
