Lucca, Varberg exchange vows

Beth Lucca, Elgin, and Josey Varberg, Elgin, were united in marriage Saturday, June 21, 2008, during a 3 p.m. wedding ceremony at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Fr. Roger Bergkamp performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Tom and Mary Lucca and Randy and Judy Olafson, International Falls. The groom is the son of Jere and Darlene Varberg, Minot, N.D.
Musical selections included “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” J.S. Bach, for the bridal party, “Pachelbel Canon,” Pachelbel, for the bride, and the recessional was Hornpipe from “Water Music.” Talia Zeman was vocalist, May Ann Kalar pianist/organist, and Matt Routledge, vocalist/guitarist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, Tom Lucca, appeared in a Monique Luo strapless dress. The bodice was adorned with pearls and sparkly beading. She wore a light pink sash around her waist, held together with a pearl brooch. The skirt was layers of vertical ruffles. She wore a small tiara and a cathedral-length veil for the ceremony. Her bouquet was an array of pink blooms, including peonies, raniculus and roses.
Lindsay Nelson-Schultz was the bride’s matron of honor and bridesmaids were Gina Lucca, Dorina Lucca, Emily Hieb and Amy Mortenson. The attendants wore espresso brown, tea-length dresses with a pink sash. Each carried a bouquet filled with an array of white blooms, including raniculus and roses.
Emily Nicholson and Natalie Stone served as the bride’s personal attendants.
Jeremy Dauner-Olson was the groom’s best man and groomsmen were Jayke Degenstein, Jesse Lochthowe, Matt Routledge and Levi Hieb.
Serving as ushers were Slade Bahls, Chris Connor and Jeff Olson.
Mothers of the bride Mary Lucca chose an espresso brown dress and Judy Olafson wore a gold-laced, tea-length dress.
The groom’s mother, Darlene, wore a tea-length espresso brown dress.
A reception followed the ceremony at the Holiday Inn. The meal included chicken coq au vin, steamed vegetables and baby red potatoes. The three-tier marble cake was made by Jodi at Super Valu and was decorated with polka dots.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Falls High School and a 2004 graduate of the College of St. Scholastica, majoring in nursing.
The groom is a graduate of Bishop Ryan High School and the University of North Dakota, nursing. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, nurse anesthesia.
A January 2009 wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, is planned by the couple.
They are making their home in Elgin.
