The One Hour Photo lab that has served International Falls residents for several years at Thrifty Drug is moving to the Top Ten Video building at 1129 3rd Street.
The new name of the photo store will be “Unique Photo Works”, and will continue to offer the film and digital processing and printing services that were offered at One Hour Photo lab. The photo lab closed Tuesday, for its move to its new home in The Computer Fix, in the same building at Top Ten Video. It opens again on Wednesday with weekday hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We are excited to get the opportunity to continue the one hour photo service in this area while at the same time are expanding its services,” said Timothy Riggs, owner, The Computer Fix.
Riggs said that in acquiring the one hour photo he has a unique opportunity to expand the value added services of his technology based business.
Top Ten Video started as a VHS video rental store in 1993. It has since expanded to provide Internet access as Northwinds Net and computer sales and service as The Computer Fix.
“We’ve seen a lot of changes in our industry over the past 15 years, from the introduction of Internet access, DVD movies, to the ever changing technology of the computer,” he added.
Thrifty Drug opened the One Hour Photo using a Noritsu print machine in October 1992. They upgraded and are now using an Agfa DLAB I, which has digital print and disc capability. It is also able to print color posters up to 20x30 inches.
“I am very pleased that Tim has assumed ownership of the photo lab,” said Colleen Hanover, owner, Thrifty Drug. “He has a strong sense of community and is eager to continue providing quality photo service.
“It should be a smooth transition,” she added.
