‘September Scramble’
The Ladies Day “September Scramble” is set for noon today at Falls Country Club. Tee off is 12:30 p.m. Cost is $5. Bring an hors d’oeuvre to share after golf. Sign up in the clubhouse. Call Punky at 286-5711 or Martha, 285-7270, for information.

‘Serenity Sisters’
The Women’s A.A. gathering, “Serenity Sisters,” will meet at noon Friday at the Backus building, Rational Alternatives Room 101.

Musical presentation
The bluegrass and Gospel music group “Freedom’s Call,” of Bemidji, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Full Gospel Fellowship Church, 1530 Sixth Ave. W. Refreshments will be served following the concert. The public is encouraged to attend.

Homebuyer
workshop
A Homebuyer Workshop is slated for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at KOOTASCA Community Action, 2232 Second Ave. E. Topics include: Qualifying for a Mortgage/Loan Programs, Budgeting/Credit Issues/Saving, Shopping for a Home/Realtor Services, Professional Inspections/Appraisals, Closing/Title Insurance/Homeowners Insurance, Financial Responsibilities as a Homeowner. Workshop offered
Rainy River Community College will present a workshop entitled “Welcome to the World of Computers” Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Room SS-135. This course is for the absolute beginner and for computer users who want to build their confidence and skills. The workshop will start by covering Windows basics and using word processing programs. The second half of the class will focus on using the Internet, including searching the web, sending and receiving e-mails and sending and receiving attachments. Co-sponsored by the International Falls Chamber of Commerce, cost is $49 which includes a book. Call 285-2255 for registration information.

USDA Rural Development
Office day for the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the basement conference room of Koochiching County Courthouse. Rural Development provides a 1 percent interest rate home repair loan to very low income homeowners and a subsidized home purchase program to very low and low income households.

Gun safety class
Indus Community Education is offering a “Gun Safety Class” beginning at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 15. Students must be 12 years old to earn their certificate; however, 11 year olds are welcome to take the class and will not receive their certificate until they turn 12. Instructor is Glennda Qualley. A small fee will be charged for the Department of Natural Resources certificate. Students are required to have 12 hours of instructional time. Class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after school for two weeks. Testing will be Sept. 27. Call Karen Anderson by Sept. 10 at the Indus School to register, 218-634-2425 or 285-3355.
