A son was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Simons, Island View Route, Andy William.
Forty friends of Mrs. Robert Scheela gathered at the Spot Supper Club for a farewell dinner party for her. The Scheela’s are moving to Scottsdale, Ariz.
Leonard Jeffery and his wife, Rosetta, arrived Sunday afternoon and are parked at Riverside Trailer Court. For Jeffery it is a sentimental journey back to his hometown after a 38-year absence. The Jefferys will be in town three or four days renewing acquaintances.
Miss Vicky Mio, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mio, is enrolled at Alexandria Vocational-Technical School where she is studying the key punch operator and clerical course. Her brother Bill is enrolled at Rainy River State College as a freshman.
Boilerman Fireman Delbert A. Beckstrand, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond E. Beckstrand of Loman Route, is serving aboard the destroyer USS Hanson off the coast of Vietnam.

The Koochiching County Welfare Board will seek an opinion from the attorney general of Minnesota to solve a $100,000 dilemma caused by the Minnesota state fire marshall who has ordered the board to install a sprinkling system in Falls Nursing Home.
Danny Boyum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Boyum, was stung by a hornet and was confined to Falls Memorial Hospital a few days.
Dr. Calvin E. Freden, who graduated Thursday evening from Northwestern College of Chiropractic, Minneapolis, will set up practice Oct. 1 in Pine City.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nass Jr., 716 Sixth Ave., 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

The municipality has been forced to cancel the proposed sidewalk construction program because of the difficulty to secure cement in quantity, city officials said today.
Miss Dolores Pagedas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pagedas, 406 Third St., has accepted a government position as dental hygienist in the dental clinic at Richland, Wash.
Fellow staff members and a few other friends joined Wednesday evening in a stag party honoring Tony Mio, Journal photographer-engraver who will be married Saturday. The prospective groom was presented with an electric coffee maker, along with congratulations and best wishes.
Miss Mary Shewchuk’s engagement to James C. Prettyman is announced by her mother, Mrs. Julia Shewchuk, 814 Eighth St.
