Teacher conferences
Falls High School teachers will be available for Parent-Teacher Conferences between the hours of hours of 5 and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Oct. 9.

ATV safety training
All terrain vehicle safety training will be conducted Oct. 23 and 24 (no school day) for youth 12-15 years old. A parent or guardian must register their child in person in the Community Education Office, located by the pool at Falls High School (door No. 5). Call 283-2571, ext. 186, with any questions.

Tailgate party
Bronco Football Boosters will host a tailgate party Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Bronco Stadium. Burger basket and drink will be available for $5 or a hotdog and drink for $3. Kids can sign up for a free chance to win an autographed Bronco football by pitching the pigskin. Falls High School Homecoming royalty will be honored at half-time.

Garden club
Koochiching Men’s Garden Club will gather for their annual election of officers Tuesday at the Holiday Inn. Happy hour begins at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bob Hilke.

Community Market
Backus Community Market continues Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the AB Third Street parking lot. This will be the last “outdoor” market of the season. Fresh produce, baked goods, handmade and specialty products by local artisans and vendors are featured. Backus provides coffee and bars. Artisans and vendors will display products for sale in a final “indoor” market Oct. 11 at the Backus Autumn Arts and Crafts Festival.
Firearm safety
Firearm Safety Classes will start Monday. Students must be at least 11 years old. A parent or guardian must register students in person in the Community Education Office by 1 p.m. Monday. Cost is $12 per student. Call Community Education at 283-2571, ext. 186, with any questions.

Sandwich supper
The Moose Lodge will serve a Chicken Breast Sandwiches Supper at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the lodge.

Men’s breakfast
The men of St. Paul Lutheran Church will gather for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barney’s Family Restaurant.

Red Cross
The American Red Cross Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 309 Third St.

Religious education
Religious Education Mass and registration for First Reconciliation and Confirmation Grades 2 and 7-11 is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at. St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Rural Development
Office day for United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the basement conference room of Koochiching County Courthouse. Rural Development provides a 1 percent interest rate home repair loan to very low income homeowners and a subsidized home purchase program to very low and low income households.

Mormon open house
The public is welcome to attend a “Meet the Mormons” Open House beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel located at 1340 Keenan Drive. Refreshments will be served. Participants will have the opportunity to learn answers to a variety of questions they may have about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from active and knowledgeable members.

‘What about me?’
“What about me?”, an on-going support group for parents of survivors of sexual abuse victims, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 7, at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Brad Kokesh. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza at the beginning of each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

Senior Federation
Virginia Senior Center will host the annual event Fun Day of the Minnesota Senior Federation’s North Star Regional Forum Oct. 10. The center is located at 511 Chestnut St., Virginia. The Forum Board will meet at 10 a.m. with the afternoon session beginning at 12:30. Lunch is being planned for $5 and will be served at 11:30 a.m. for those with reservations. Call the office at 218-749-2912, ext. 202 or 800-662-5711, ext. 202, by noon Monday. Entertainment, door prizes and food will be featured.

Scouting for Food
Cub Scout Pack 145 along with Boy Scout Troops 145 and 150 will collect food for the local Falls Hunger Coalition Oct. 12. Homeowners are asked to have a bag of nonperishable food items near their front entrance or mailbox by 1 p.m. Monetary donations are also accepted. Make checks payable to Falls Hunger Coalition. Items most needed are canned fruit, canned juice, canned meat and canned meals. If donation has not been collected by 5, call 283-8020 and leave a message.
