The Littlefork-Big Falls school board is scheduled to hear a report from Superintendent Fred Seybert on the MACCRAY school district’s four-day school week when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday for its regular meeting.
Seybert recently visited the MACCRAY district to interview students and staff in continued research for L-BF’s possible adoption of a four-day week.
The MACCRAY school district is in west-central Minnesota and is a consolidation of three communities: Maynard, Clara City and Raymond. It is the only district in the state currently implementing the shortened academic week.
There are 17 states with districts that execute a four-day week, according to Seybert.
Research previously obtained through MACCRAY shows predominantly positive outcomes as a result of removing Monday from the school attendance week. Seybert will have additional information to report after his visit, at Monday’s meeting.
The board is expected to approve hiring for the positions of elementary teacher aides, Title I aide and a new technology director.
The board is also scheduled to hear updates from Seybert on the School Nutrition Committee, Staff Development and the Community Education Recreation Commission.
A comment period open to the public is part of the L-BF agenda early in every regular school board meeting.
