Mona (Lonergan) Acres, 82, formerly of International Falls, passed away Nov. 4, 2008, in Tucson, Ariz., after a 10-year battle with cancer. Her strength and courage were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She married Jerry Lonergan in 1946 and together they operated Lonergans Resort on Lake Kabetogama until moving to the Falls.
She was an excellent fisherman, duck and goose hunter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, former husband Jerry Lonergan, and husband Ed Acres.
She is survived by three children, Charmay (Rick) Ferguson of Grand Rapids, Michael (Lori) Lonergan of Grand Rapids, and Patrick Lonergan of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many old and dear friends in International Falls.
We will miss her very much but she is out of her suffering and in a much better place and for that we are eternally grateful.
