Irv Anderson passed away Monday morning, Nov. 17, 2008, in Coon Rapids, from health complications.
Irv served as a leader in the union, and was first elected as a State Representative in the Minnesota State Legislature in 1964. He later served as the Majority Leader and Speaker of the House, and retired from the legislature in 2006.
Irv was a long-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion; an avid hunter, fisherman, and carpenter, and active in the DFL party and politics up until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis “Phil”; children, Greg (Becky) of Coon Rapids and Cindy (Randy) Kevern of Ham Lake; grandchildren, Chad (Sarah) of Libertyville, Ill., Chris Anderson of Chicago, Ill., Caitlin (Scott) Seath of St. Paul, Sarah Anderson of Dauphin, Manitoba, Jenny (Chad) Lindberg of North Branch, and Heather Haluptzok of Coon Rapids; great-grandchildren, Liam, Lila, Cayla, Carter and Joseph; sister, Jeanette of Chico, Calif.; brother, Charles of Burnsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William, Donald and James.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Green-Larsen Mortuary, International Falls.
Funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, International Falls.
Interment will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
The family requests memorials to St. Thomas School.
