Falls dispatches East Range 6-3

Victories can do wonders for a team’s morale.
After opening the season winless in four contests, the Broncos’ 6-3 victory Tuesday over East Range at Bronco Arena gives the Falls two wins in a row.

“It was good to get a few wins in,” said sophomore Mackenzie Raboin, who had a monster game against the Knights with two goals and three assists.

Sydney Gordon, fresh off a 5-goal performance in a 6-0 victory over Park Rapids Area, tallied a goal and three assists, while Alyssa Bergstrom had two goals and two assists.

“It’s getting better. We’re starting to play well together,” said Raboin, who noted her sister Sydney’s goal in the second period was the first of her varsity career.

Sydney Raboin, a seventh-grader, recently moved up to Gordon and Mackenzie’s line and added two assists to go with her first goal Tuesday.

Also scoring points for the Broncos were Taylor Raboin and Katie West, who both notched an assist each.

“It’s all I can ask — is if they put in 51 minutes of work,” said a noticeably excited Broncos coach Bruce Elson.

Seventh-grader Keanna Carlson made 18 saves to pick up her second career varsity victory in as many games, while Mikki Hartman-Mattson suffered the loss for the Knights (2-4) with 26 saves. The Broncos (2-3-1) outshot the visitors 32-21.

“Can’t ask much more from a kid than to get in there and stop pucks,” Elson said about his young netminder.

Glenn Hartman-Mattson, Hanna Lashmett and Taylor Skelton each scored a goal for East Range.

The Falls’ next bit of action is Friday at Fort Frances.
