Local author Sheryl Peterson will visit Indus School Tuesday. She will make three presentations throughout the day for students in elementary and junior high.

Peterson grew up in Redwood Falls and had an interest in reading from a young age. “At 10, a good book, a blanket in the back yard, and maybe an apple to munch on, and I would be in 10-year-old heaven,” she comments.

Peterson’s presentation is meant to encourage young children to enjoy reading a non-fiction book.

She has written 12 books about the states, including its history, landscape, people and places. Some of the states in her books are Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, and Iowa.

Peterson comes to Indus School through the Reading First grant and she will make presentations as follows: Kindergarten through second grade from 9 to 9:45 a.m., third through fifth grade from 10:15 to 11, and sixth through eighth grade from 12:35 to 1:15 p.m. Presentations will take place in the school library. Parents and community members are welcome.
