Tara Sohlman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sohlman, was guest of honor on her 12th birthday Sunday evening at her home.
Shift workers at Boise Cascade Corporation found U.S. Senate candidate Joan Growe waiting to shake hands this morning as they went in and out of the plant. Growe greeted Insulite and paper mill employees about sunrise before leaving the Falls for engagements in Virginia and Duluth.

40 YEARS AGO
Former Koochiching County Attorney Leonard P. Blomholm, 77, died this evening at Falls Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Reed Christensen were honored at a joint birthday party at the John Alich Jr. home.
Specialist 5 David H. Gawtry, 407 Sixth St., returned home Oct. 24 after serving 14 months with the 25th Medical Battalion at Tay Ninh, South Vietnam.
Tenderfoot rank was bestowed on Boy Scouts John Wickstrom, Ivan Zimanek, Tom Turry, Paul Anderson, David Menefee, Dewey Darval, Douglas Anderson, James DuRose and Lester Pollard during Troop 149’s Court of Honor Tuesday evening.

50 YEARS AGO
Ronald Del Pup, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Del Pup, 915 Ninth St., recently graduated from Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, Calif.
Captain Dennis Anderson of the Falls Broncos was named fullback on the Iron Range conference all-star team in a unanimous vote of league coaches. Anderson was one of two IRC gridders to be a unanimous choice.
Lee Kyle, son of Mrs. Nora Kyle, 715 1/2 Seventh St., was awarded excellent in radio speaking at the annual reading clinic in Vermillion, S.D.
Airman Second Class, Wayne Kyle, son of Mrs. Nora Kyle, is enjoying a furlough at his home here before departing soon from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., for Okinawa.

Mr. and Mrs. William Skwarok, Forest Inn Apartments, became parents of a son born today. His weight was 6 pounds, 3 ounces.
Friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tranquillo Lucca, 1140 Seventh Ave., to help them celebrate the completion of their new home. The housewarming was arranged by a committee consisting of Mmes. A.P. Larson, Anthony Lucca and P.E. Holm.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Weum, 605 Seventh St., were entertained at a surprise party Saturday evening in observance of the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary. Mmes. Albert Thorson, John Dunham, Alfred Weum and Ed Weum arranged the party.
Parents of a son born today at Falls Memorial Hospital are Mr. and Mrs. Garth Bratlie. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
