Ruby Springsteel Holcomb Christensen — March 27, 1919-Nov. 3, 2009.

Ruby has gone to be with her Lord.

Born on Springsteel Island, Warroad, Minn., to Arthur and Ethel Springsteel, Ruby and her brother Douglas (Bud) grew up on the island. Walking across the ice in the winter and taking a canoe in summer to the main land.

In 1936, she married Charlie Holcomb. After his death, she married Chuck Christensen in 1954. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Ruby had six children — Darleen (Beldon) Clark, Marleen (Steve) Zawchenuk, Leatrice Frank, Colin (Cindy) Christensen, Stephen Christensen and Kerry Christensen.

Ruby was also a mother to Chuck’s four children who she considered her own — June Asselstine, Carol Charrette, Dennis Christensen and Dean Christensen. There are 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, daughter Marleen, granddaughter La Vonne, great-grandson Jason, and brother, Bud.

Death occurred in Vilonia, Ark., where she had resided for the past several years with son Stephen.

Burial has taken place in Cary, Ill.
