Friends recall former Falls Fire Chief Jack Robb’s sharp wit and dedication to duty. Robb, who served as fire chief from 1971 to 1981, died today at Falls Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years old.
On Nov. 1 David Scholler retired from Boise Cascade after 42 years’ service. Dave was a chip reclaim operator for almost three decades.

Construction of a Travel Information Center on the corner of Fourth Street and Second Avenue in International Falls could begin as early as four months, under a program advanced by state Department of Transportation officials.
Wade Otto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Otto, had the misfortune to fall and break his leg one day last week.

Audrey Henrickson, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Henrickson, Papermakers Colony, was capped in ceremonies recently at Anoka Vocational-Technical School.
“Please, honey, I’m only 78,” pleaded Mrs. Sadie Steele, Woodland Park Apartments, to The Journal newsroom this morning. The Journal had incorrectly announced that she would observe her 79th birthday on Saturday.
A son was born today in Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. George Glover.
The two grandmothers who shared Thanksgiving Day dinner with the Larry Beach family, were Larry’s mother, Mrs. Agnes Beach, who has her own summer cottage nearby, and Mrs. Beach’s (Elaine) mother, Mrs. Florence Pries, both of the Falls.

A daughter was born today to Mr. and Mrs. Orville Fraser, South International Falls, 7 pounds, 15 ounces, Valerie Kay.
A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Love, Littlefork, 6 pounds, 1 1/2 ounces.

International Falls Memorial hospital served 1,913 patients during its first year of operation. It saw 276 babies get a start in life.
Mr. and Mrs. John Decker, 609 Sixth St., residents of this city since 1909, were feted at a family party Sunday afternoon in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.
A daughter was born today in Littlefork Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Art Turenne Jr. Weight, 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Infant has been named Janice Marie
