Children targeted with new meth

Filed under:

No votes yet

A new form of crystallized methamphetamine, nicknamed “Strawberry Quick,” has been developed and is being targeted to children.
It looks like the pop rocks candy that sizzles in the mouth, and is a dark pink color with a strawberry scent.
People are trying to make methamphetamine look and taste better and are trying different ways to market it, Koochiching Sheriff Brian Youso said.
The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association hasn’t heard of any cases of it in Minnesota yet, Youso said, but he has read that it is in Minnesota.
The Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office is keeping tabs on it, Youso said, noting that meth is a serious problem.
“We haven’t seen any of this in Koochiching County yet,” Youso said. “We know it’s out there and could be coming our way.”
