Gov. Tim Pawlenty Monday called for a special session that begins at 5 p.m. today and could be finished yet today.
He has limited the session to the topic of approving flood relief.
Some Minnesotans wanted the governor to include action on a long-term transportation spending plan and a bill that would provide property tax breaks to homeowners in places where rates are climbing fast.
Locally, International Falls City Council has urged the governor to allow for a tax relief plan that would have provided an additional $400,000 to the city this year.
But Pawlenty says tax relief and transportation will wait until the 2008 regular session convenes in February.
Should Pawlenty have limited the session to flood relief? Should he have allowed for more topics at this special session?
