Yes, even in International Falls, Minnesota, some of us are receivng the following: In yesterday's mail, I received a folded over 8 1/2 X 11 pamphlet type piece of mail with a return address of U.S. District Court Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 290,
Philadelphia, PA 19105-0290. An attached cover letter indicates that I am "eligible for a court-approved refund of fees charged to eligible credit cards". It gives three options for applying for the refund, the
first being an Easy Refund of $25. An enclosed form then asks for personal bank account and credit card info. There is no official logos or solid addresses connecting this to the actual U.S. District Court.
Instead, it refers to coming from and going back to a "Court Settlement Administrator".
I called the U.S. District Court this morning, and they knew nothing about this. I was referred to the Des Moines office of the U.S. Attorney General who also hadn't heard of it yet. The gentleman there took my phone number and called me back in just a very few minutes, advising he had learned that this is a nationwide threat that the U.S.Postal Inspection Service is just learning about. I was then asked to send the phony mailing to a Special Agent of the U.S. Postal Inspection
Service, and also encouraged to tell my friends and relatives about it.
People, please do not fill this form out. It is obviously a fraud. All you would be doing is supplying someone all your information.
I thank my friends who have also done research on this. Please discard as soon as you receive it.
