Aquilo League

The Aquilo League will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn.

The Lamplighters

The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

Moose supper

Hot roast beef sandwiches will be served at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge.

Open swimming

Families, children, and adults are welcome to come and swim in the Falls High School Pool from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The pool is closed on “no school days” or scheduled swim meets (check school calendar for exact dates.) A 10- or 20-punch swim ticket can be purchased in advance at the Community Education Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. No pre-registration is required.

Class of 1941

Falls High School Class of 1941 will gather for a Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn.

Scuba refresher course

The community is encouraged to brush up on scuba skills before heading off to vacation this winter at a class instructed by Don Ewald slated for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at Falls High School Deep Pool. Participants should bring diving equipment (mask and fins). Air tank and weights will be provided. Cost is $10. Pre-registration is required by calling Community Education at 283-2571, ext. 186.

Water aerobics

The public is welcome to a non-impact workout at Falls High School Pool, to build muscles without weight bearing stress. No swimming skills required. The workout is ideal for everyone regardless of fitness level. Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. with instructor Amy Amundsen. Session 2: Jan. 7-30, $30 or sign up with a friend and pay $15 each; Session 3: Feb. 4-27, $22.50. There will be no class Feb. 18. Make up day to be decided. Pre-registration is required with Community Education by calling 283-2571, ext. 186.

Red Cross

Community Education is offering the following swim lessons for: Level 1 — (ages 4 and up who have already taken preschool swim lessons with parents), Level 2 or Level 3. Lessons are set for Jan. 8 through Feb. 12. (No lessons Jan. 15 due to a boy’s home swim meet.) Lessons will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Falls High School Pool with certified instructors. Cost is $35 per swimmer. Private swim lessons are available upon request from a certified Red Cross instructor. Eight 30-minute lessons will be scheduled at times/dates most convenient for the swimmer and instructor. Lessons are for all ages. Cost is $70. Pre-registration is required by calling Community Education at 283-2571, ext. 186.

Snowmobile safety

Students who are 11 years old by Jan. 5 are invited to receive training on snowmobile safety. A written and driving test will be administered before receiving a certificate. Classroom instruction is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 5 at Rainy River Community College. Participants should bring a sack lunch. Beverage and chips will be provided. Testing will be Jan. 6. Participants should schedule a test time with the instructor at the Jan. 5 class. Testing lasts approximately one hour. Proper clothing is required. Snowmobiles and helmets are provided. Cost is $10. Instructors are International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club members. Students must pre-register by calling the Community Education Office at 283-2571, ext. 109. 

Winter concert

West End Elementary School first- and second-grade students will present a winter concert at 2 p.m. Thursday at Falls High School gymnasium.

Quilter’s potluck

Northern Lights Quilters Guild will gather for a Christmas potluck at 6 p.m. tonight at First Lutheran Church. Members are asked to bring a dish to share and a handmade Christmas ornament to exchange. For more information, call Deb Landmark at 283-3547.

Red Hattitude Kats

The Red Hattitude Kats will conduct their Christmas potluck at the home of June Baron, 2206 Co. Rd. 115, at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Call 286-3074 for directions.

Airport commission

The International Falls-Koochiching County Airport Commission will  meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the offices of Einarson Flying Service Inc., located at Falls International Airport.
