Seventy-nine-year-old Dorothy Iraci, who began her education in England as a four-year-old, recently completed tests to receive her General Equivalency Diploma.
Friends and family are invited to an open house and baby shower honoring Tony and Trevor Moss, 1 to 3 p.m., Feb. 14, at the home of Pam Moss, 1416 Third Ave. E.

Rob Vance and Roberta Plasky were chosen Winter Sports king and queen at Falls High School today.

40 YEARS AGO
Edward J. Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Schmidt, 1209 Third Ave., will be elevated to Eagle rank in the Boy Scouts of America at a court of honor to be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today in Zion Lutheran Church.
Janice Kocinski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kocinski, was one of nine College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, student finalists in the “Best Dressed Girl on Campus” style show recently in Rockhurst Auditorium.
Sgt. Michael K. Green, 22, U.S. Air Force, son of Mrs. Kenneth Green, 1628 Second Ave. E., has been home on leave from The First Air Commando Wing of England AFB, Louisiana, before leaving for Vietnam.
Much of the spirit that has helped the Bronco hockey team along the road to victory so many times this season has been generated by the Falls hockey cheerleaders. The seven are: Ann Walter, Cindy Holland, Nancy Glowack, Janice Turenne, Peggy Thomas, Robin Constantine and Patty Ross.

50 YEARS AGO
Memorial services for Rev. Guy C. Menefee, retired Episcopal minister who had served numerous churches throughout Minnesota, were held at 10 o’clock this morning in the Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Grand Rapids. Rev. Menefee was the father of Dr. John H. Menefee, International Falls dentist.
James Pullar was honored at a gathering Sunday in his home on Island View Route in observance of his birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sheehy are being congratulated by their many friends on the birth of their eighth child. The newcomer, the couple’s fourth son, arrived Saturday in LaVerendrye Hospital and weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce.
Mrs. Mattie Jackson, Wirt resident, who is visiting here, was honored Sunday on the occasion of her 67th birthday. A four-tiered birthday cake was baked by Mrs. Robert Jackson.

60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence LaBlanc of South International Falls announce the birth of a daughter today at Northern Minnesota Hospital.
A son was born yesterday at Littlefork Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mannausau of Ranier.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Beck, 523 Eighth St., announce the birth of a son Feb. 9 at Northern Minnesota Hospital. The baby weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces.
Mayor Carl (******) Olson and Clerk Emil Kalar of South International Falls are enroute to Minneapolis today to drive back the new fire truck purchased recently by the village council.
