Curl up with a good book

Stay warm and curl up with a good book, movie or book on compact disk. The weather outside has been frightful the last few days and makes you wonder if spring will ever arrive. But regardless of the weather, the library is open and willing to help you find something to read, watch or listen to. So don’t be a stranger, stop by your public library and enjoy the many resources we have available for your reading, listening and watching pleasure.
Here are the titles we have of the top five fiction and non-fiction New York Times bestseller books. Fiction title include Compulsion by Jonathan Kellerman, The Appeal by John Grisham, Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult and Remember Me? By Sophia Kinsella.
Non-fiction titles include Mistaken Identity by Don and Susie Van Ryn and Newell, Colleen, and Whitney Cerak with Mark Tabb, Beautiful Boy by David Sheff, Losing It by Valerie Bertinelli, and In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan.
The following items are all part of the Vigilance Collection and are shelved along the north wall of the library. Be sure to also check out the magazines that are part of the collection. The magazines are shelved in the northwest corner. Check out “Health After 50” published by the John Hopkins Medical Center, “Wellness Letter” published by the University of California at Berkeley or the “Townsend Letter” the examiner of Alternative Medicine.
Creating a World without Poverty by Muhammad Yunnus, winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, along with Grameen Bank of which he is founder and managing director. The book is available on CD and describes the world of social business in which the creative vision of the entrepreneur is applied to today’s most serious problems.
Bill Bradley’s newest book is The New American Story. It is available in both print and CD. Bill Bradley outlines what it will take to make America a better, stronger, truer country and he’s not just talking to the parties and elected leaders. Mr. Bradley proposes things that every American can do to shape our future now.
Thom Hartmann is an American broadcaster and author. Screwed: the undeclared war against the middle class — and what we can do about it is a look at the policies changes of the last 25 years that he says favor the privileged few, something the founding fathers worked hard to make sure wouldn’t happen. And finally, America’s Secret War: inside the hidden worldwide struggle between America and its enemies by George Friedman is the startling truth behind America’s foreign policy by the founder and chairman of Stratfor, the leading private intelligence company.
The library hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 to 6 and Saturdays from 10 to 3 through May 17. The junior room opens at 10, is open Tuesdays until 8, and Monday and Wednesday through Friday it closes at 6. It is also open 10 to 3 on Saturdays through May 17.
