May is only a week away and it’s definitely beginning to look like spring might actually arrive.
It’s about time for the next Borderland Reads. Stop by the library and vote for the title you’d like to read with your family this summer. We have selected a variety of titles appropriate for families with children in upper elementary and above. Let us know what you’d enjoy. The library is beginning its preparations for summer so May programming will be limited to Family Night early in the month and the Friends of the Library board meeting and book sale.
Tuesday, May 6, will be a busy day at the library. The Friends of the Library monthly board meeting will be at 2 p.m. Anyone interested in helping to promote the library is welcome to come and participate. The monthly Friends of the Library sale will be that evening from 5:30 to 7:30. We have received lots of new books in the past month so come on down to the book sale room and take a bag or two. All sales are by donation with proceeds benefiting Friends activities in promotion of the library.
Family Night will also be Tuesday, May 6, at 6:30 and the library is hosting gardening party. Come hear stories, play games and plant seeds. We’ll help families get a start on their gardens. There isn’t a charge or a need for registration for this program. Just stop by the library and enjoy some fun as a family.
The library has four public Internet terminals that are available for one hour per patron a day. The terminals are very busy and you are encouraged to make a reservation. The library is also equipped with wireless access so patrons are welcome to bring in their wireless enabled laptops to access the Internet via their own computer or use one of our laptops. The library has four laptop computers that are available for checkout for the length of the battery. A driver’s license is required to check out a laptop computer. The library laptops can also print to the local printer. Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis, with no reservations accepted.
If you have a flier promoting a local event, please drop one off at the check out desk to be posted. And if you are looking for something to do, stop by and check out the board for a variety of fun, interesting, educational and cool events.
The library has a meeting room that is available for use during library hours. Please contact the library for information about use of the room and to make a reservation.
