Women’s club
Rainy Lake Women's Club G.F.W.C. will meet for dinner at the Holiday Inn Riverfront Room at 6 p.m. Thursday. A report on the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Minnesota convention will be given. Dues for 2009 will be collected.

Book sale
The Friends of the Library monthly book sale will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the downstairs book room at Falls Public Library. All sales are by donation with proceeds benefiting the Friends of the Library and its support of the library.

Family Night
Falls Public Library Family Night is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. As it is time to garden, the public is welcome to attend and hear stories, play games and begin their own garden in a cup. No registration or fees are needed. Family Night is open to families with children of all ages.

Foods packages
pick up
Pick up for MAC and NAPS food packages will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the KOOTASCA office, 2232 Second Ave. E. Those unable to pick up their box should arrange for someone else to pick it up for them. For more information, call 283-9491.

Diabetes association
The American Diabetes Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, 123 Wayside Lane. Speaker will be St. Steve Phillipson. Meetings are free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome.

Degree of Honor
Degree of Honor will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Backus Community Center, Room 110.

After Loss Group
The After Loss Group will gather at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose Garden Restaurant.

Garden club
Koochiching Men’s Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ron Herivel, 2725 Pleasant Ave.
Women’s Business Network
The public is encouraged to take a break from the hectic days and connect with peers, potential customers and people who can make work easier. The Women’s Business network will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday at Coffee Landing Metro to network with peers. This is designed for women who want to share ideas and learn from others. There is no cost. Contact Jenny Dougherty at the Small Business Development Center at 283-8585 with any questions.

Bridges for Peace
Sami Rasouli, an Iraqi American who has spent the last three years living in the city of Najaf, Iraq, and traveling throughout Iraq in his work with the Muslim Peacemaker Teams, will share his experiences at a presentation set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rainy River Community College Theater. A talk scheduled for Wednesday morning at Falls High School is canceled. There is no charge. A free will offering will be taken for the MPT.

Celebrate Recovery
The Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 First Ave. E., welcomes all those struggling with hurts, habits or hang-ups to their Celebrate Recovery meetings at 7 p.m. Mondays in Room G101 (use north parking lot double doors). Purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power. As participants work through the Christ-based 12 steps, they become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving life’s problems. By working the steps and applying Biblical principles, participants begin to grow spiritually and eventually become free from hurts, hang-ups and habits. In Celebrate Recovery, identities are not in past behaviors. For more information, call the church at 283-3365.

The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

Public Bingo
Persons 18 and older are welcome to play Bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Koochiching County Senior Center.

Lyman cemetery
Lyman Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ed Taylor residence.

Ladies aid
St. Paul Lutheran Church Ladies Aid will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fellowship Hall.

Quilts of Valor
A “Quilts of Valor” workshop is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Maronic Hall (St. Thomas Church basement). Quilts will be assembled for wounded soldiers from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everyone is welcome. Sewing experience is not necessary. For more information, call Katie at 286-5216.

Clothes Closet
The Community Clothes Closet will accept drop offs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aquinas Hall, 810 Fifth St. The Closet will be open from 10 to 7 Thursday.

Yoga class
Community Education is offering a yoga class entitled “A Basic Yoga Practice.” Classes will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Dancing Sky Wellness, 1001 Fifth St. (use back door entrance of Faith United Church). Cost is $48 for the session. Instructor is Cathy Johnson. This practice will include meditation and relaxation techniques and incorporate the use of props to encourage all levels of participation. Walk-ins are welcome to join the first night. Pre-register and pre-pay by calling 283-2571, ext. 186, or stop by the Community Education Office (located at door No. 5 at Falls High School).

Ericsburg cemetery
The Ericsburg Cemetery Association will conduct its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Harold Skoglund residence.
