10 YEARS AGO
The Grand Rapids Wal-Mart store associates are helping a local high school senior realize a dream by awarding a $1,000 scholarship. Heather Marklund recently received a scholarship as part of the Sam Walton Community Leader Award program, sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Mary Louiseau was presented a candle, lit in memory of her late husband at the recently held Lions Club midwinter convention memorial service. Gil had been a Lions Club member for many years. Presenting the award was Dan Kroeten, charter member.

25 YEARS AGO
Bruce Napper of International Falls has joined The Daily Journal staff as circulating manager.
Sharon Dilly of the Flame won this season’s MVP Shootout at the Road House Wednesday night. Phyllis Tom of the Busy Bee took runner-up honors.

40 YEARS AGO
Grand March of the Falls High School junior-senior prom Saturday night was led by Dennis Carrier, senior class president, and his date, Jennifer Dahl, and Burton Helleloid, junior class president, and his date, Janice Hoppe.
A French Horn trio of Martha Gawtry, Ruth Haugland and Bill Niemi will be featured with Falls High School band during the annual spring instrumental concert Tuesday.
Mrs. Joseph J. Rauscher, 801 Fifth St., was honored for her many years of volunteer work for the Minnesota Respiratory Health Association at the annual meeting at the Hilton hotel, St. Paul, Friday.
Dr. Roland Caple, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Caple, 806 Eighth St., assistant chemistry professor at University of Minnesota, Duluth, was named Outstanding Teacher for 1967-68 at the annual recognition dinner.

50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Museta, 612 10th St., announce the arrival of a new son, Stephen Edward, today.
Boston today banned rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions from public auditoriums after 15 persons were injured following one at the Boston Arena.
Dale M. Johnson is the new sales representative for the Prudential Insurance Company in the International Falls area, according to Howard Agee, manager of the district office at Hibbing.
Pfc. Guy F. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Williams, 912 Third St., is a member of the 49th Army band stationed in Verona, Italy.

60 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Anderson of Ray announce the birth of a son recently weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces at Littlefork Hospital. The baby has been named Robert Gary.
Michael Jack is the name selected by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Price, South International Falls, for their son born today in Littlefork Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. William Walls, 1105 10th St., are the parents of a daughter born in Northern Minnesota Hospital yesterday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wolden of South International Falls announce the birth of a son this morning in Northern Minnesota Hospital.
