Holy Trinity Women
The Women of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church will gather at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barney’s Family Restaurant.
Fishing With Kids!
An Early Childhood Family Education Special Event, “Fishing With Kids!,” is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Participants should bring a picnic supper and join in at Rainy Lake One Stop fishing pond for a night of fishing and fun activities planned by MINNAQUA. A $2 donation per child for supplies and materials is requested. Each child will make a pop can caster, and leave with a goodie bag. Bait will be provided.
Celebrate Recovery
The Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 First Ave. E., welcomes all those struggling with hurts, habits or hang-ups to their Celebrate Recovery meetings at 7 p.m. Mondays in Room G101 (use north parking lot double doors). Purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power. As participants work through the Christ-based 12 steps, they become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving life’s problems. By working the steps and applying Biblical principles, participants begin to grow spiritually and eventually become free from hurts, hang-ups and habits. Phone recycling
Borderland Humane Society is currently participating in a cell phone recycling program. By recycling old cell phones, the humane society can receive money for the old phones, with all proceeds going to BHS. The community is urged to help by donating phones to help animals in need. Phones may be dropped off at The Daily Journal, Radio Shack or K-104/KGHS Radio Station. Anyone with questions may call 218-324-2313.
Pain management group
The Chronic Pain Management Support Group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Duluth Clinic-International Falls, Community Room. Guest speaker will be Melanie Monnie, Doctor of Pharmacy, pharmacist at Thrifty White Pharmacy. The topic will be “Chronic Pain and Medication Management.” Meetings are free and for anyone dealing with chronic pain or has someone in their life dealing with chronic pain. Goal is to provide information, education, communication and sharing, and to promote comfort and dignity for those people dealing with chronic pain issues.
The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.
Public Bingo
Persons 18 and older are welcome to play Bingo at 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Koochiching County Senior Center.
Open horseshoes
Men, women and teenagers are welcome to play open horseshoes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kerry Park. No experience is necessary.
Moose supper
The Moose Lodge will serve a chicken breast sandwiches supper at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Loss Support Group
The Loss Support Group, sponsored by North Star Hospice and facilitated by Phyllis Karsnia, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in a Holiday Inn banquet room. Anyone who has experienced deep loss in their lives is welcome to attend.
AARP chapter
AARP, Ice Box of the North local chapter, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Koochiching County Senior Center. Terri Buller, Wells Fargo, will speak on Identity Theft. All interested persons are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
