Ross Murray, son of Robert and Barb Murray, Littlefork, has been named to the USA Today Two Year College Academic First Team.
Falls High School senior Lisa Matiski won third place in the 13th annual Minnesota Pro-Life Oratory contest sponsored by Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life.

25 YEARS AGO
There will be an Open House in honor of Donald Routier who is graduating from the Minnesota School of Dentistry June 10. He leaves immediately for a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in the G.P.R. Dental Program. The open house is hosted by his parents, Helen and Cecil Routier, at their home May 2, 1 to 5 p.m.
The Broncos’ Dan Karsnia was the medalist in Wednesday’s IRC golf meet with a score of 38 at the Grand Rapids Country Club.

40 YEARS AGO
Mrs. James Rundell and three-month-old Charlene Rae were feted at a pink and blue shower in the home of Mrs. Richard Sutherland.
Bodin-McCarthy Fish Company, Highway 53, is holding open house from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jake Blake, 30, is manager of the business which is housed in a 50x30-foot Pruden steel structure. His office assistant is Mrs. Dorothy Anderson.
Michael C. Karsnia, 20, son of Mrs. Romeo Karsnia, Browns Corner, and the late Romeo Karsnia, was advanced recently to Boilerman second class in the U.S. Navy.
Mark Koerbitz, the sophomore outfielder for the Falls baseball team, leads the team in hitting so far with a .481 average. He also has one home run to tie him with Morris Virden for tops in that category.
50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kvist, Ranier, had their sons home from Minneapolis for the Mother’s Day weekend. Gerald is a senior studying commercial art at the University of Minnesota and Donald is in his first year in electronics at Dunwoody Institute.
AC/2 Orlando Sem informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sem, 712 Fourth Ave., that he has arrived at Highland Air Force Base, N.J., from Keesler Field, Miss.
Lael Gendron, 407 Ninth St., entertained five classmates at a wiener roast Saturday evening in honor of Dianne Blais whose birthday was Tuesday.
Mary and Michael Kaminski, daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Kaminski, 423 Ninth St., celebrated their birthdays at a family gathering Friday at the Kaminski residence. Mary is five and Michael is two. They were assisted in opening their gifts by their sister, Pat.

60 YEARS AGO
Friends and relatives honored Mrs. Clyde Caple at a stork shower in Ukrainian Hall. Hostesses were: Mmes. Don Grignon, Lloyd Morrison, Ed Morrison, Robert Caple and Ed Chrislock.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Byman, Carson Lupie, are the parents of a daughter born yesterday in Northern Minnesota Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Anderson, 1021 Eighth St., announce the birth of an eleven-pound, four-ounce son at the local hospital yesterday. He will be named William Martin.
Miss Alice Hubbard, clerk of municipal court, suffered a double fracture of the left ankle, cut on her head and shoulder injuries when she fell down a flight of stairs in the municipal building this morning.
