Falls High freshman Alicia Hendrickson can now add the title of Conference Champion to her resume as she took first place in the pole vault at the Iron Range Conference Girls’ Track and Field Meet here on Wednesday afternoon.
Hendrickson finished with a height of eight feet, six inches which earned her a spot on the All-Conference Team and was the lone Broncos champion.
‘This is Alicia's second year earning All-Conference honors in the pole vault and considering that she is only a ninth grader, that is an outstanding accomplishment,” Broncos head coach Jen Erickson said. “She cleared a personal best today and moves up to second place on the Broncos girls track and field all-time top ten list for girls pole vault.”
Hendrickson is tied for second on the list with Jaime LeDuc.
Steph Christianson finished second in the mile which earned her a spot on the All-Conference Team.
“Steph has been working hard all season and has continued to steadily improve her times over the past few weeks,” Erickson said. “She ran another personal best time for the season today.”
The Broncos finished in fourth place behind Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Virginia.
“The girls had a good day today, performing 15 personal best times/distances for the season,” Erickson said. "We seem to struggle with the same thing each meet where half of the team improves their times/distances and the other half doesn’t do as well as they had hoped to.”
The Broncos will be in Warroad today for the teams’ last regular season meet of the year. The girls will travel to Hibbing next Wednesday for the Sub-Section Meet with hopes of qualifying for the Section Meet which will be held in Duluth at the University of Minnesota Duluth on May 30.
