Barbara Belanger was the recipient of a Distinguished Scholarship Award at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
Amanda Crosby has been accepted as a student at the University of Minnesota, Crookston, and will begin studies for fall quarter.

25 YEARS AGO
Airman Steven A. Tuttle, son of John E. and Joan A. Tuttle, 901 Riverside Drive, has been assigned to Chanute Air Force Base, Ill., after completing Air Force basic training.
Blake D. Monkman, son of Dennis and Diane Monkman, Route 7, has entered the Air Force’s delayed enlistment program.

40 YEARS AGO
Graduating from St. Cloud State College on Friday will be Miss Nancy Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fisher, Miss Judy Helmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Helmer, and Miss Shannon Shepard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Shepard. All three are 1964 graduates of Falls High School.
Ronald McClanahan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McClanahan, graduated from Duluth Area Technical Institute after taking a two-year course in electricity.
Billie Byman, Donald Fulton, Carla Kjellgren and Leanne Raymond will receive their diplomas at 6:30 o’clock this evening at the 45th annual commencement at Itasca State Junior College, Grand Rapids.
Falls High School alumni Archie Judson, Allen Kalar, Cheryl Haley, Ronald Hilke, John Carlson, Leslie Eklund, Adrian Kuczynski and Cathryn Simenson will be among the 627 members of the University of Minnesota Duluth Class of 1968 to march in academic procession to open commencement exercises at 8 o’clock this evening at the UMD Physical Education building.

50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Koski, 1300 Ninth Ave., will be noting their golden wedding anniversary Saturday.
The home of Mrs. Gertie Smrstik, Point O’Pines, is the scene of a family reunion, the first one since 1910.
Rev. and Mrs. G. Moody Steward, who were noting their fifth wedding anniversary Sunday were surprised by members of First Baptist Church congregation following the regular Sunday evening services.
Alderman and Mrs. Clifford Carlson, 1016 Sixth St., were honored at a surprise party Saturday evening in observance of their 25th wedding anniversary at their home.

60 YEARS AGO
Harry Johnson, former manager of Harold’s Store, has gone into business for himself in quarters formerly occupied by Stevenson’s, 316 Third St.
Chet Lind this week is marking his first year spent at International Falls as agent for Century-Matthews Motor Freight, Inc.
Pfc. Robert Darvell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Con Darvell, 806 Ninth St., left last night for Fort Orde, Calif., after spending a two-week furlough at home.
A former International Falls boy, now an outstanding high school athlete in Oregon, and his father, are visiting here with Pete Neveau, 914 11th St. They are Don and Oscar Neveau of St. Helen’s Ore., nephew and brother of Pete Neveau. Oscar was once manager of the Super Service Garage in the Falls.
