Theft: David G. Swenson reported Tuesday that 500 pounds of copper and an equal amount of lead and ground wire, for a total value of $1,200, was taken from Pelland Swenson, 324 Industrial Ave.

Boat collision: A 55-year-old male passenger from Illinois died as a result of a boat allegedly striking an underwater rock on Jeanette Lake, located off the Echo Trail about 35 miles northeast of Orr. The collision caused the passenger to be ejected from the boat. The victim was wearing a life jacket. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation attempts failed.
