Women of the Moose
The Women of the Moose will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Moose Club downstairs clubrooms.

Pain management group
The Chronic Pain Management Support Group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room of the Duluth Clinic-International Falls. “Pain Management and Chiropractics” will be presented by Dr. Dean Cowman of Rainy Lake Chiropractic Center. Meetings are free and for anyone dealing with chronic pain issues.

Airport commission
The International Falls-Koochiching County Airport Commission will meet at 8 .m. Wednesday the conference room at the offices of Einarson Flying Service Inc. located at Falls International Airport.

Volunteer luncheon
The North Star Hospice Volunteer Luncheon is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn. All hospice and respite volunteers are welcome to attend.

Support groups
The following support groups will not meet in June, July or August: breast cancer, cardiac, macular degeneration and gastric bypass.

Class of 1948
Falls High School Class of 1948 is planning a brunch for 10:30 a.m. July 6 at Barney’s Family Restaurant Banquet Room. Classmates are encouraged to bring their spouse and/or friend and join in for the 60-year anniversary.

‘Celebrate Recovery’
We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up or habit. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based, 12-step program and the group meets every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church. Everyone is welcome.

Summer band
concert
A concert will be presented by the “Summer Band” at 7 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of Backus Community Center. Students and adults from the Borderland area are members of the band. The public is welcome; there will be a free-will offering. The band will also be performing on the Fourth of July in the parade and at the bandshell in Smokey Bear Park.

Art exhibition
Jason Hardwig will be offering an Art Exhibition at the Backus Community Center today through July 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will be in Room 209 at Backus. The public is also welcome to a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Hardwig is a recent graduate of the Chicago Art Institute with a master of fine arts degree.

Phone recycling
Borderland Humane Society is currently participating in a cell phone recycling program. By recycling old cell phones, the humane society can receive money for the old phones, with all proceeds going to BHS. The community is urged to help by donating phones to help animals in need. Phones may be dropped off at The Daily Journal, Radio Shack or K-104/KGHS Radio Station. Anyone with questions may call 218-324-2313.

The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.

Open horseshoes
Men, women and teenagers are welcome to play open horseshoes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kerry Park. No experience is necessary.

Meatloaf supper
A meatloaf supper will be served at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge.

Hemstad benefit
A benefit for Trygg Hemstad will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ranier Hall. The menu includes hot dogs, brats, chips, coffee, pop and bars.

Clothes closet
The Community Clothes Closet will accept donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aquinas Hall, 810 Fifth St. The Closet will be open from 10 to 4 Thursday.

Parenting class
The “Love & Limits” parenting class will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the KOOTASCA building, 2232 Second Ave. E. Free child care will be provided. For information, call 283-7043.

Concert in the Park
The Wednesday Concert in the Park will feature “Timberline” beginning at 7 p.m. Storytime with Falls Public Library Librarian Diane Adams will be at 6. The public is welcome to attend.

Healing powwow
The 7th Annual North Country Health Services Healing Powwow is planned for Thursday at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji. Grand entry is at noon. Giveaway and Honoring Ceremony will follow. A feast will begin at 5 p.m. Dancers and spectators of all ages are welcome to attend.

Elks Wednesday Meal
The Elks Lodge Wednesday Meal will be Texas fried steak, with serving starting at 6:30 p.m. Call early for reservations, 283-3440.

Pie social
A Falls Senior Citizen Center Pie Social is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Recreation Room at Woodland Park Apartments, 1200 Riverside Drive. Assorted pies and ice cream will be served will coffee or tea. Cost is $3. If you bring a pie, there is no charge. The public is welcome.
