A weightlifting gym and a computer training center have opened in International Falls. Marty Liguori, who has himself trained steadily with weights for about 10 years, has opened a new gym across from Boise Cascade at the corner of Second Street and Fourth Avenue in the former Pamida building.
Katherine Naland has been accepted at the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph. She is a 1983 Falls High School graduate.

Richard Hill has been appointed to the position of instructor in English and director of speech and drama on the staff of Rainy River State Junior College.
Joseph Rizzo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Rizzo, was named on the dean’s list at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a 3.5 grade point average.
Delbert Hickey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hickey, was installed as the 20th master councilor of MacNeill Chapter, Order of DeMolay, today in the Masonic Temple.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Maurstad have been notified that their son, Peter, has been named to the dean’s list at University of Minnesota where he is a sophomore.

Softball enthusiasts and just plain sports fans will have the opportunity of watching a master at work Friday evening at the baseball park when Eddie Feigner (The King) and his four man court will compete with a team of all-stars from International Falls and the surrounding communities.
Pvt. Clyde E. Martin Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Martin, graduated recently from the Provost Marshall General’s School, Fort Gordon, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Alexander were pleasantly surprised Sunday afternoon at the Mose Galipeau resort by members of the immediate family on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Connie Finstad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Finstad, Ranier, played in the 10-piano ensemble of a concert Sunday evening at the Northrup Auditorium, Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kaushagen of International Falls are the parents of a son born this evening at Northern Minnesota Hospital.
Darrell Irvin is the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Graves, Highway 53, for their son born today in Littlefork Hospital. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 4 1/2 ounces.
