Malaise in an Election Year

A year ago on this blog, we were all getting ready for the all-school reunion. And getting ready for the long primary season leading up to the elections of 2008. It was exciting.
This week, the lights have dimmed on this old site. Whereas VikesFan was getting the discussion rolling on language-learning and immigrants a year ago, I am wondering this year where all of our energy went. It can't be that we are bored by the prospect of Barack Obama and John McCain, could it? Or Norm Coleman against Al Franken and maybe even Jesse the Body?
My suspicion is that most of the regulars might be watching the soccer matches of Euro2008 and just don't have time or energy to blog. I will be watching Spain and Russia in an hour myself as they determine who will go up against the Germans in the final match. For Europe, soccer seems to have taken the place of war. So while they get soccer, all we are left with is the very boring Global War on Terror, that quasi-war dreamed up by our fairly boring vice president from the really boring state of Wyoming. Cheney. He's turned a whole nation into mush just like we knew he would.
