County to take action on rock quarry

The Koochiching County Board is expected to approve a conditional use permit for a rock quarry near Clementson at its meeting Tuesday.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the courthouse boardroom.
Bowman Construction has proposed to establish a 4-acre rock quarry on an 80-acre site west of County Road 89. The county board tabled the item at its June 24 meeting to allow Bowman Construction more time to discuss the proposal with area residents. The board is scheduled to discuss the issue during Environmental Services Department business at 10:45 a.m.
The board is also expected to approve the purchase of a monolith or monument for the county’s Veterans Memorial project during Veteran Services Department business at 10:20 a.m. County officials have considered moving the Veterans Memorial from inside to outside the courthouse.
During Land and Forestry Department business at 10:25 a.m., the board is expected to approve a Minnesota Department of Transportation right-of-way fee acquisition for improvement on a piece of land along Minnesota Highway 6.
The board is expected to renew several service contracts during Community Services Department business at 10:30 a.m.
During Information Systems Department, business at 10:15 a.m., the board is expected to approve a computer and software purchase for the Highway Department.
The board is scheduled to meet with department supervisors to discuss the upcoming 2009 budget when it meets in committee at 1:30 p.m.
Prior to the regular county board meeting, the board is scheduled to meet as the Koochiching Development Authority at 9:30 a.m. to review the structure of a partnership that would include cities located within Koochiching County.
