Community Market
Backus Community Market continues Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 to 11 a.m. in the AB Third Street parking lot. Fresh produce, baked goods, handmade and specialty products by local artisans and vendors are featured. Backus will provide coffee and bars. The public is encouraged to attend. Interested vendors may contact the Backus office at 285-7225.
Quilt guild
Whispering Pines Quilt Guild will meet tonight in Room 200 of Evangelical Covenant Church (use door A on south side of the building to enter church.) Sewing will begin at 6 p.m. with the guild meeting will be at 7. Participants may come when possible. Work will begin on the Brown Bag Quilt project. Quilters are reminded to wear a nametag, bring a fat quarter of patriotic or baby theme fabric for the drawing and bring two rainbow blocks that were demonstrated at the last meeting if they wish to take part in the block exchange. Show and Tell items are always welcome. All area quilters of any level of experience are welcome to attend.
Aluminum can drive
The Bronco Volleyball Aluminum Can Drive is now underway and will run through October. The can trailer can be found in the Dairy Queen parking lot.
Pain management group
Guest speaker at the Chronic Pain Management Support Group meeting set for 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room at the Duluth Clinic-International Falls, is Kathie Henrickson RN/CNP. She will present “Chronic Pain and the Use of Injections to Control Pain.” Meetings are free and refreshments available. People with chronic pain, caregivers, family and friends are encouraged to attend. Meetings are the second and the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 1 to 3. FHS Alumni Newsletter
Issue No. 51 of the FHS Alumni Newsletter is due out very close to Aug. 4-5th. Therefore, any news articles, announcements for upcoming events or pictures that individuals or classes have from family gatherings or reunions held so far this summer, should be sent to Janet Schultheis at PO Box 933, dropped off at 916 Third Street or e-mailed to janetifmn@charter.net [1] as soon as possible and no later than July 24. Sons of Norway gathering
Vinland Lodge, Sons of Norway will meet for a social gathering on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Nyland Huset. New members will be introduced and refreshments provided. Membership is open to all interested persons. Guests are welcome to attend. Call 283-3009 or 286-3318 for information.
Archery 3-D Shoot
Area archers are invited to participate in a two-day Moonlight Archery 3-D Shoot on Saturday and Sunday at the Archery Range on Highway 11 in the Falls. Shooting and registration begins at 9 a.m. both days. View the trophies for the year-end championships. For more information, call 324-0844.
Falls Senior Club
Sale and Auction
An estate sale and auction to benefit the Falls Senior Club is scheduled at the Woodland Park Apartments on Thurday, Friday and Saturday. The esate sale will begin at 8 a.m. each day. New stock will be added daily. The auction, conducted by Border Country Auctions begins on Saturday at 10 a.m., and lunch will be available.
Hospice volunteer luncheon
The North Star Hospice Volunteer Luncheon will be held July 24, noon, at the Holiday Inn. All hospice and respite volunteers are welcome.
