The 19th Annual Up North Advanced Players Volleyball Camp handed out its awards Thursday afternoon at the Rainy River Community College gym.
Over 40 girls from International Falls and the surrounding area participated in the camp that was for girls going into grades eight through 12. Girls from the Falls, Fort Frances, Littlefork-Big Falls, Big Fork, Lake of the Woods, Indus and Virginia school districts attended the camp.
“It was a really nice mix of kids,” Camp Director Mel Millerbernd said. “A big thing about camp for me is that they meet new people and have fun. I think that there were a lot of nice friendships made at camp.
Millerbernd is in her 19th year with the camp that focuses on developing a players skills.
“We do a lot of skills and drills and we do a lot of playing in the afternoon,” Millerbernd said. “I think everybody really had their fill of games and we could sure see improvement from Monday to Thursday.”
