To the editor,
I recently stayed in one of the most beautiful places on God's green earth, International Falls, Minn.!
I am a veteran of the war in Iraq and have been to many countries around the world in my time in the service, but never had been to place more scenic and relaxing.

During the early 1970s some of my co-workers and I stayed in your nice city when we made our annual fishing trip to Canada. We stayed at a local motel, ate at a local restaurant, and purchased supplies for our trek into Canada. In 1976, I took my children ages 7 and 11 and my new bride on the same trip, and again we contributed to your local economy. My last trip was in 1978 when my wife and I went alone to help celebrate the many wonderful things in our lives.

To the editor,
On the Fourth of July my husband and I visited your community. I write to commend the citizens and their leadership on the beautiful and welcoming image International Falls projects.
It is neat, clean and invites visitors with the wide boulevards and lovely hanging baskets. Homes are enhanced with front yard gardens that communicate a pride not only in their homes but also in the city itself — a desire to make International Falls a great place to live.

To the editor:
Over the years our family has camped at a number of city campgrounds. We have fond memories of the communities who invited us into their ‘backyards’.
My husband and I often lamented over the fact that International Falls did not have a comparable city campground. When we heard about the planning committee for City Beach, my husband gladly agreed to be part of it.
The committee had moved thoughtfully and slowly through the process of enhancing the area. Significant improvements have been made, including the presence of a host couple who maintains a watchful eye.

To the editor,
I am writing to let the people of International Falls know how proud they should be of their hospital. They saved my friend’s life.

To the editor,
The International Falls City Council has repeatedly asked for regular meetings with the Koochiching County Board of Commissioners. The City agrees with The Daily Journal (6-26-08 editorial) that city and county officials should “…set aside their differences and talk about how to resolve this issue [Highway 332]…”

To the editor,
There is a classic paradox framed by the question “What happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?” While this paradox may be fun to ponder, it has a simple answer: there is no answer because physics does not allow for either; except here in Koochiching County where the county board and the International Falls City Council are doing their best to prove otherwise.

To the editor,
So Commissioner Kallie Briggs thinks the City Beach area residents concerns about allowing recreational vehicles at City Beach are “ridiculous,” and Commissioner Chuck Lepper thinks those of us who live in the area are “lucky.”

To the editor,
I’m writing this in defense of Shelly Timmer.
Over the past couple of months I've seen the deputy chief (of the Littlefork Ambulance Service) tear Shelly apart because she had made a complaint against him about taking call time from the Falls. I have witnessed many phone calls from the deputy chief threatening her to watch her back or else.

For parents who may want help with the educational needs of their children, help is available here in International Falls.
